There many different type of emotion and there are many ways to express to those emotions. Emotions are like part of our identity.
Jae Nichelle wrote a poem about her anxiety “Friends with Benefits”. She uses personification, giving her anxiety life and to be seen as an over controlling person. Nichelle talks about her life with her anxiety and how her and her anxiety been through a lot together. She makes her and her anxiety act like there in some type of toxic relationship. Her anxiety gives her a hard time being in relationship with other people because she mentions that knows one they’re singing up for a threesome.
The emotion that Nichelle is portraying is fear. She fears about her anxiety taking over her and ruining her life. Fear becomes an important role of survival.
“The fear that no matter what she does she is in danger of being crushed”
Here is saying that she so afraid of her anxiety that one day it will over whelm her, she is trying her best to control it. It’s two emotions at once. Fear is similar to anxiety and here she is showing fear of her other emotion (anxiety) that it’s going to overpower her.
“I’ve been fighting her for control of our house, for years”.
It’s like survival of the fittest because she is constantly fighting with her anxiety for her entire life. It seems like her anxiety is slowly pushing to the edge but she is barely hanging on.
I read an article where people researched about human emotion. The website is and the title of the article is “A Model for Basic Emotions Using Observations of Behavior in Drosophila”. It’s about how they are saying that human emotions play a crucial role. They were doing research on basic human emotion. They were using animal model to observe the basic emotions. The basic emotions are internal states that are modulated by neuromodulators (chemical substances produced naturally by our body that transmit messages between neurons). There are four kinds of basic emotions: happy, sad, anger, and fear. They’ve connected them with the three core affects. Reward is happiness, punishment is sadness and stress is fear and anger. With these four basic emotions they were categorize each one in the three primary colors (Red, Blue, and Yellow) and they call it “Three Primary Color Model of Basic Emotions.”
Another article that I’ve read its by Kendra Cherry “The 6 Types of Basic Emotions and Their Effect on Human Behavior”. It talks about how there so many emotions that has so much impact in our life. With these different emotion, our emotion it able effects on how we live and interact with others. They also say how it seems like we are being ruled by our emotions. The choices we make, the actions we take, and the perceptions we have are all influenced by the emotions we are experiencing at any given moment. There was a Psychologists that has tried identify the different types of emotions that we humans experience in our daily life. During the 1970s, psychologist Paul Eckman he has picked out six basic emotions that he put forward were experienced in all human cultures. The six emotions that he picked out were happiness, sadness, disgust, fear, surprise, and anger. Then sometime later He later he began to add other emotion to his list of basic emotions to included. They were pride, shame, embarrassment, and excitement. Then there was another Psychologist his name was Robert Plutchik. He made a “wheel of emotions”.
Both article is similar, even though they were written by different people it still talked about the same thing. One the first article “Model for Basic Emotions Using Observations of Behavior in Drosophila” they mentioned how they did a color wheel based of the emotion. They called it “Three Primary Color Model of Basic Emotions.”
It said “the three core affects constitute the basic emotions: stress, fear and anger, reward, happiness or joy punishment, sadness or disgust. These emotions combine in varying degrees to create multiple higher order of emotions, much like the way different colors can be created from the three primary colors.”
The second article “The 6 Types of Basic Emotions and Their Effect on Human Behavior” said same thing but they called it “wheel of emotions” and that it’s like the color wheel. They mentioned that Emotions can be combined to form different feelings and also compared it to colors because you can mix colors to get a new color.
In the article it stated “basic emotions such as joy and trust can be combined to create love.”
Both article talks about how emotion could be seen as colors and how somewhat similar in a way. They also tell how you are able to combine to emotions to make one new emotion. That like mixing to different color and the end result you get a hole complete new color.
